Translated by: Lourenço Ramos
It's very easy to be a poet. Writing a “yada yada yada” is enough for me to consider myself a genius just for rhyming “two” with “too”. After all, it's easy to be a poet, isn’t that what they say? Writing is simple, and reciting is like taking candy from a baby.
Oh, if only they knew that with every line I write, it’s not just words that come out, but a pain being set free! If writing is agonizing, feeling is even worse. The hardest part is feeling the poetry. Anyone knows how to use a gun, but few are the ones who know how to use a pencil as if it were one.
With a pencil, wars begin and others end... With a pencil, people are hired.
With the pain I carry, I turn everything into text. With a cigarette in hand and my mind racing, I write. I write for myself because no one has seen the pain I have felt in silence. On this road where I almost always walk alone, with only God by my side, here I am.
But, in the end of it all, it’s easy to be a poet.
